Turnip – Purple Top White Globe


(Brassica rapa rapifera).

An attractive turnip that is hardy and easy to grow. Nearly round purple topped white roots.  Flesh is crisp and firm, best used when 5 to 8 cm across and grown quickly.

Sow 1 cm deep, in rows 30 cm apart.  Best sown January to April in all areas, but also early spring in cold areas.  Thin 5 to 8 cm apart when large enough to handle.  Germinates in  7 days at 21 deg. C. soil temperature.  Ideal when used young. Grow quickly for tender roots.
