Sweet Pea – Spencer Stripes Mix


(Lathyrus odoratus).

Named in honour of the Earl of Spencer as it was first discovered in his garden in 1900. This alluring mix of striped and flaked (streaked) flowers grow on a large, vigorous plant to 250cm. Requires support.

Prepare seed for sowing by soaking in water overnight. Plant seed 1 – 2cm deep in rows 15cm apart. They are best planted where they are to grow. Traditionally planted on St. Patricks Day in many areas of Australia, you can plant them from January – April (cool climate); March – April (Temp). Plants grow to 250cm. Expect germination within 7 – 14 days at 21 degrees soil temperature. Plants must be supported by a trellis, or other plant support . Deadhead to prolong the flowering period.
