Swede Turnip – Gilfeather

Very old variety with white flesh. Root topped pale green. Sweet and mild, suiting those who find normal Swedes too strong.

Sow 1cm deep and thin out to 10cm apart with 30cm between rows. Sow August to January (cold): January to March (temp): February to April (trop).

Sow 1 cm deep, August to mid January (cold), January to March (warm) and February to April in the tropics.  Thin to 10 cm apart when large enough to handle.  Frosts improve flavour. Swedes maturing in cold conditions have the best taste. Expect germination in around 1 week at 21deg. C. soil temperature.
