Silverbeet – Perpetual Spinach


(Beta vulgaris cicla).

This true Silver beet is a favourite for taste. Leaves are smaller and less crinkled than regular varieties, looking like a large Spinach. Can be picked over a long period.

Best sown September to January (cold), July to February in warm areas and February to November in the tropics.  Sow seed 1 cm deep, thinning 40 to 50 cm apart. Expect germination in 15 days at 21 deg. C. soil temperature. Keep well watered and feed heavily.  Very slow to go to seed.
