Peas like cool weather with best crops being picked in spring, but they can be grown at other times in cool areas. They do not like cold wet soils. Fertilisers rich in phosphates will assist in obtaining good crops. We highly recommend using Powdery Mildew resistant varieties when grown in warm and humid weather.
Sow 5 cm deep and 3 cm apart with 40cm between rows. Best sown from May to November (cold), February to August (warm) and April to July in the tropics. Expect germination in 10 days at 16 deg. C. soil temperature. Re-sow every 3 weeks for continuous supplies.
Provide supports for ease of picking and disease prevention. Do not allow pods to become over mature before harvest.
CAUTION Seed may be treated with a pre-emergence fungicide. Do not use as stock food. Only for use as SEED for SOWING.
