Corn – Baby/Popping


(Zea mays).

True “Baby Corn” can be harvested from this variety.  Expect up to 5 cobs per plant when the cobs are harvested before the silk appears.  Fully mature cobs are dried and used as popcorn.

A warm weather crop. Sow after frost in spring and continue until late December (cold): September to January (temp): August to February (trop). Must be well fed and watered. Sow 5 deep and thin to 10cm between plants. Expect germination in 1 week at 23 deg.. soil temperature. Plant in blocks of several rows to ensure good pollination. Make small sowings every 1 to 2 weeks for cropping continuity.
