Cauliflower – Orange


(Brassica oleracea botrytis).

Unusual orange heads. A real novelty that is great to eat too! Break leaves over curd as it develops. Best sown November to January in southern areas. This variety contains 25 times the concentration of beta carotene (form of Vitamin A), than normal cauliflowers.

A heavy feeding crop that responds well to the liberal use of animal manures. Benefits from using Sodium Molybdate on the seedbed.

Sow in seedbed 1 cm deep, transplanting 60 cm apart 6 weeks later. Break leaves over developing heart to avoid curd discolouration.

Best sown November to January in southern areas..  Feed heavily and keep well watered in hot weather.  Expect germination in 7 days at 23 deg.C. soil temperature.
