Beetroot – White


Beta vulgaris crassa

This WHITE beetroot has the same taste as the best red varieties, plus it is totally non-staining.  The delicious round roots are a real surprise.  Leaves are also edible as a silverbeet substitute.

Sow September to January (cold), July to March (temp), AYR (trop), in soil well manured for the previous crop. Sow 2cm deep in rows 15cm apart. Thin seedlings out to about 5cm apart, or further for larger roots. Expect germination in 2 weeks at 23 deg. C. soil temperature. Feed well and keep watered in hot weather.
